that和why引導的是名詞從句，前者that引導的是同位語從句,that在其中不做任何成分。強調與先行詞同位或等同的從句叫做同位語從句。后者why引導的是表示原因的原因狀語從句，強調因某原因所導致的結果。

the reason that和why的區別

1. that指代reason，在從句中作主語或賓語：

We do things for good reasons that are bad.

我們做事出于好的理由，但它其實是壞的。

2. why指代reason，在從句中作原因狀語：

There are a lot of reasons why marriages don't continue.

婚姻無法維持有很多原因。

Maybe I am looking for the reason why I exist.
